On May 2, 2019, I moderated a discussion with H.E. Ambassador Fatima Kyari Mohammed, African Union Permanent Observer to the United Nations. Students, faculty, community members, and development professionals gathered to hear from the Ambassador. The Ambassador discussed a variety of topics, including free trade zones and shared currencies in Africa, the latest trends in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and ways in which members of the diaspora can not only get involved in issues related to the African continent, but also build meaningful, sustainable momentum geared towards real change. Following our chat, guests had the opportunity to ask Ambassador Mohammed questions related to her work and life.
