VOA: "Another Day, Another Dollar"

There has been much debate about the future of the West African currency (CFA). West African nations are moving towards creating their own currency the éco—a new regional currency that attempts to break free from French control and influence. This new move prompts many questions: what are some of the positive and negative aspects of changing currencies? Why do these countries want to unpeg their currency from Europe? Ultimately, will this change have an impact on the African economy? In January 2020, I spoke with Adam Phillips about this issue in an interview with VOA’s International Edition.
