On November 6, 2018, Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo rang the opening bell on the trading floor of the Ghana Commodities Exchange (GCX) to commence trading. After several years of planning and research, the opening unlocks economic opportunities for smallholder farmers across the country. With research funding provided by the International Growth Centre (IGC) based in the London School of Economics, the NYU Abu Dhabi Research Institute, and other donors, we have conducted several research studies on the evaluation of exchange and mobile apps for trading.
